Canada & US Scramble Fighters To Intercept Russian Bombers On Coast

Two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack bombers were met by two CF-18s and two F-22s.

Canada and the United States had to scramble fighters as two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack bombers came close to the northwestern coastline of North America.

Here’s what NORAD said on Twitter:

“An E-3 AWACS, 2x F-22, 2x CF-18 fighter jets from NORAD positively identified 2x Russian Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bombers entering the Canadian Air Defense Identification Zone on January 26, 2019. Bombers remained in international airspace and did not enter sovereign territory”

This – along with Russia’s military build up in the north – is yet another reason why Canada must boost our military spending, fix our garbage procurement system – and ensure that our nation has strong defences.

Even if it costs many billions of dollars, we must pay what is necessary to build up our forces and protect Canada.

The liberal govt with Trudeau as PM are only interested in a Globalist Agenda, Trudeau is the biggest Danger to Canada

I really really hope that if our defenseless country is about to have trouble that we get an actual for Canada, Canadian government. Your so right Spencer we need to build our Royal Canadian Forces. Thank you USA yet again, we need you so much with Butts and Trudope destroying our country, sorry we are becoming another Venezuela, and I hope the Lieberals will step down and let us elect a Canadian PM and that they have enough time and can still get enough money to build our Forces, or pay the USA to protect what was a friend and… Read more »

We won’t let Canada get hit by Russia, Canada and the U.S. will always remain good friends, BTW, the 2 F-22 Raptors had been following the two bombers and no sign that the Russians had detected them.. The E-3 AWACS was watching for low flying Russian fighters..

The Liberals don’t have the guts or common sense to improve the military. The US will look after us. Good luck on that one.

Investing in Canada makes a lot more sense than laundering almost $100 million to Hamas. I suspect if we could sell oil on the world market that Canada could actually have something resembling a proper military.

Can’t help but wonder how long the U.S. planes had to wait for Canada to “scramble/find” 2 aging fighter planes to join in with them. No slight to our military who bravely fight for our nation, while having to endure chronic under-funding at the hands of this and many other governments – even conservative ones. I know it will take billions but I seem to recall this current border crisis of Captain Crayon’s making will easily cost us over a billion itself. The $100 million it costs Canada per day in the oil price differential due to the lack of… Read more »

We all agree with you Spencer. We have been very slack for too long. We could buy the equipment, but what carrot can we ofter anyone to join our military. Living at or near the poverty level once retired from years of service, or because you have been seriously maimed is not a very enticing career choice.

THAT is NOTHING new!!!!

This is a wake up call to Canada. We should once again build our Military if we want to be a world class leader

Better get out the Sopwith Camels and attack with our inclusive diversity love and understanding.

Canada should have built its defence capability years ago. We will never be self reliant but I’d like to be more capable than Fiji should the Communists from China or California attack us.

Justin can’t be trusted with a defence budget or any budget for that matter.

Perhaps the bombers were on their way to Ottawa to “meddle in our election”;-) In any case, the Yanks owe us a free air force in payment for Diefenbaker flying all our Avro Arrows into Lake Ontario because they were so much better than anything the Yanks had at the time. If it hadn’t been for that Canada would be supplying aircraft to NATO, not the Yanks, the Frogs or the Limeys. This episode does seem to have been spun to promote the sales of the F-35, though. Something the Harper government rightly deserves censure for. But now Trump has… Read more »
