Conservatives says no other MPs, aside from Sweet & Ron Liepert, have travelled to the US.
Conservative MP David Sweet is no longer the head of the Ethics Committee.
According to the Conservative Party, Sweet travelled to the U.S. to deal with a ‘property issue,’ but then stayed for leisure purposes.
Apparently, Sweet didn’t tell the party whip about staying longer.
As a result, the party says “Mr. O’Toole has accepted his resignation as a Committee Chair.”
On Twitter, Sweet also announced that he will not seek re-election:

By getting Sweet to resign, Conservative leader Erin O’Toole has matched the actions taken by Jagmeet Singh and Justin Trudeau, who also punished hypocritical politicians who travelled. Does this mean the parties are finally waking up to angry Canadians are, or will they simply hope this goes away for a while so they can be total hypocrites again?
