Not a surprise, unfortunately.
After the Federal Court of Canada ruled that the invocation of the Emergencies Act was unreasonable and violated the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland has announced the Liberal government will be appealing the ruling:
“Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland says the government will be appealing the federal court’s ruling that the government’s use of the Emergencies Act was unconstitutional and unreasonable.”

The Liberals could have admitted that they completely overstepped their authority and abused state power, but that would require them having respect for their fellow Citizens and believing there are actually limits on what the government can do.

By appealing, the Liberals thus telegraph their intention to abuse state power whenever they feel like it, something that all Canadians should find deeply disturbing, especially with the Liberals more and more desperate to hold on to power amid their crumbling standing with the public.
