VIDEO: Trump Announces Deal To Temporarily End U.S. Government Shutdown

The deal re-opens the U.S. government for three weeks, and includes no wall funding.

In what many are calling a ‘cave’ in his showdown with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he’ll support a deal to re-open the government for three weeks.

Trump had previously said that he wouldn’t accept any deal unless it included $5.7 Billion USD for a wall on the U.S. border with Mexico.

Pelosi had said she wouldn’t give any funding for a wall, and wouldn’t negotiate on anything until the government is re-opened.

Thus, the deal represents a significant concession by Trump to Pelosi and the Democrats.

However, Trump also said that if a deal on border wall funding is not struck within the next three weeks, he will either shut down the government again or declare a national emergency to procure wall funds from other parts of the government – which would certainly be challenged in court.

After his comments, Trump did not take questions, and did not respond to shouted questions regarding the arrest and indictment of his former associate Roger Stone.
