That just makes her look even more principled, and further undercuts Butts’ attempt to refute her testimony.
During his ongoing testimony, Gerald Butts says he was stunned by Jody Wilson-Raybould (according to him) turning down the offer of being Indigenous Affairs Minister.
He says her reason was that she was a lifelong opponent of the Indian Act, and could not be in a role that would require implementing that legislation.
The Indian Act is a horrible piece of legislation, and Wilson-Raybould deserves credit for sticking by her principles.
Of course, by revealing this, Butts has actually further increased Jody Wilson-Raybould’s credibility, and further undercut his own.
By showing how principled Wilson-Raybould is, Butts raises the question of why anyone should believe him when he tries to refute her strong testimony.
