Authoritarian Politicians Will Seek To Exploit ‘Omicron’ To Keep People In A State Of Fear

Fear makes it easier for politicians to maintain their control over the populace, as scared people are often willing to give up their rights & freedoms.

For those who thought governments were merely issuing ‘temporary’ restrictions and mandates on the population, the term ‘temporary’ is being stretched to the limit.

Similar to how inflation was supposedly ‘transitory’ according to the ‘experts,’ the massive expansion of the role of the state in our lives, and the severe pullback of our rights and freedoms, continues unabated.

Once people gave in to the basic premise that the government could – for an extended period of time – turn our rights and freedoms into mere privileges dispensed or revoked at the whim of politicians and bureaucrats, the framework for ongoing control was established.

Thus, every time it seemed things were about to return to normal, ‘normal’ was pushed back.

They said 60% with one vaccination was enough, until it wasn’t.

They said 70% with one vaccination was enough, until it wasn’t.

They said 70% with two vaccinations was enough, until it wasn’t.

They said 80% with two vaccinations was enough, until it wasn’t.

They said 90% with two vaccinations was enough, until it wasn’t.

They said 100% of adults with two vaccinations was enough, until it wasn’t.

They said 100% of adults with two vaccinations and vaccines for children was enough.

How long until that isn’t enough either?

We have also witnessed vaccine passports go from a ‘conspiracy theory’ to reality around the world.

For example, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney at one point claimed vaccine passports would be illegal under the Alberta Health Act, only to then implement them.

What was considered ‘impossible’ or ‘extreme’ one moment, became the status quo policy the next, and anyone who questioned the suspension of our rights and freedoms was branded an ‘anti-vaxxer.’

New variants of fear

Governments and control obsessed politicians have also figured out that they can ‘restart’ the cycle of fear and demands for ‘safety’ whenever a new variant is discovered.

Rather than try to have a balanced or logical response, worst-case scenarios get top billing, and governments ramp up the fear, in order to gain the public acceptance for continued restrictions, mandates, and vaccine passports.

Omicron

This pattern has repeated itself with the new ‘Omicron’ variant (for some reason the WHO skipped ‘Xi’ in the naming), which was first reported by doctors in South Africa.

South Africa did the right thing, reporting the variant as soon as possible and sharing information with the world, a stark contrast to how Communist China handled things at the beginning of all of this.

For their honesty and integrity, South Africa has been punished, with nations across the world instituting travel bans.

This is akin to shutting the barn door after the horses have bolted, since the new variant is already being discovered around the world, including cases here in Canada.

The same politicians who thought it was ‘racist’ to shut down travel from China when the virus could have been contained at the beginning, now shut down travel despite the virus and variants already having spread around the world. Their incompetence is matched only by their desire for power and the thrill they get from restricting the freedom of others.

Media scare tactics

The media also plays a role here, in hyping up every new variant regardless of the underlying reality.

For all the talk about the ‘danger’ of Omicron, South African Doctor Angelique Coetzee says the symptoms are mild so far:

“A South African doctor who was one of the first to suspect a different coronavirus strain among patients said on Sunday that symptoms of the Omicron variant were so far mild and could be treated at home.

Dr. Angelique Coetzee, a private practitioner and chair of South African Medical Association, told Reuters that on Nov. 18 she noticed seven patients at her clinic who had symptoms different from the dominant Delta variant, albeit “very mild”.”

“Coetzee said a patient on Nov. 18 reported at her clinic being “extremely fatigued” for two days with body aches and headache.”

“Most of them are seeing very, very mild symptoms and none of them so far have admitted patients to surgeries. We have been able to treat these patients conservatively at home,” she said.

Coetzee, who is also on the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Vaccines, said unlike the Delta so far patients have not reported loss of smell or taste and there has been no major drop in oxygen levels with the new variant.”

And yet, most of the coverage surrounding ‘Omicron’ is about how ‘dangerous’ or ‘scary’ it could be.

Both the establishment media and power-hungry government have an interest in ramping up fear, rather than promoting a balanced perspective.

Indeed, the WHO is already pushing for a ‘common’ and ‘binding’ response:

How should we respond to Omicron?

How should Canada respond to Omicron?

The same way we should be responding to Covid overall.

Lifting all restrictions, rescinding mandates, and returning life to normal.

Returning to individual responsibility, rather than government control, as our approach towards the dangers of life.

Far too many people seem to think that it is the job of politicians to restrict the rights and freedoms of others just so they can feel a bit more ‘safe.’

But that kind of thinking isn’t compatible with a free society.

Freedom necessitates a certain level of risk – though free countries ironically end up becoming so wealthy and innovative that they tend to end up being safer anyway.

The longer people continue to give in to fear, and continue to put up with the never-ending shifting of the goalposts, the more our politicians will feel they can get away with anything.

Already, they are trying to transfer the fear narrative to climate change, seeking to instill in the populace a sense that ‘the world is on fire’ and use that fear to justify more and more restrictions on our economic freedom.

Combine that with rampant money printing that is leeching wealth away from individuals and towards the state, and we are witnessing a sustained assault on freedom that must be confronted and defeated.
