More so-called ‘misinformation’ turns out to be true.
When people pointed out that Liberal amendments to Bill C-21 would result in banning firearms used by Canadian hunters and farmers, the government claimed it was ‘misinformation.’
Trudeau accused the Conservatives of lying to Canadians, and countless Liberal MPs claimed that organizations representing Canadian firearm owners were deceiving Canadians by describing what the legislation would do.
But now, the Liberals are admitting that all the critics were right.
They are indeed planning to ban firearms used by law-abiding Canadian hunters and farmers.
In doing so, they aren’t even acknowledging that this vindicates all of their critics.
They’re simply claiming it is ‘unavoidable.’
The admission was made by Liberal MP Taleeb Noormohamed who has been on of the key Liberals pushing the amendment. And of course, he said it while speaking to CBC, knowing he would get an easy ride with the government propaganda outlet:
“Liberal MP Taleeb Noormohamed says the federal government’s controversial firearms legislation is not trying to target hunters and farmers — but some guns commonly used by them may still be banned.
Noormohamed, who sits on the parliamentary committee now grappling with the bill, acknowledged that firearms like the SKS rifle — which is on the list of proposed prohibitions — are sometimes used by hunters. But specific variants of the SKS have also been used to commit acts of violence, he said.
“The SKS has been used to kill cops across this country,” he said in an interview on CBC Radio’s The House airing Saturday. “It is used in some context by hunters, but it’s also, unfortunately, in the hands of criminals.””
Will the Liberals apologize to their critics?
The Liberals have thus now lied twice.
They lied about the legislation, claiming it wouldn’t ban firearms that it does indeed ban.
And they lied about their critics when those critics pointed it out.
Remember, Marco Mendicino accused Pierre Poilievre of spreading disinformation:
After all of this, the decent thing to do would be for the Liberals to apologize to their critics.
But they won’t.
They’ll just move on and pretend nothing happened, and go back to smearing their critics anyway.
The arrogance and disregard for the truth that the Liberals are showing, combined with their efforts to blame law-abiding gun owners for crime that is being caused by gangs, is further dividing the country, eroding trust, and making the country more dangerous.
