Liberal Minister Claims It’s “Harmful Misinformation” To Say Veterans Affairs Is Offering Medical Assistance In Dying After Previously Apologizing For Veterans Affairs Offering Medical Assistance In Dying

Is this the entire Liberal strategy now, accuse every critic of lying?

In my most recent article, I discussed how Justin Trudeau has now admitted the Liberals are banning some firearms used by Canadian hunters and farmers, after they spent a few weeks accusing the Conservatives of “disinformation” for saying exactly that.

Now, it seems accusing their opponents of “misinformation” for telling the truth isn’t just a one-off tactic from the Liberals.

It now appears to be their strategy going forward.

As reported by the National Post, in late November of this year Liberal Veterans Affairs Minister Lawrence MacAulay apologized for Veterans Affairs having offered state-sponsored suicide to multiple Canadian Veterans:

“As many as five Canadian Armed Forces veterans were offered medically assisted death by a now-suspended Veterans Affairs Canada caseworker, the minister responsible for the department has testified.

MacAulay offered an apology to veterans, explaining they create instances of “sanctuary trauma” and that the department is retraining front-line staff.

“I am sorry you had to endure these appalling interactions, and we’re doing everything we can to ensure this never happens again,” he said.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it once again, what happened was totally unacceptable,” MacAulay told committee members.

“There is no way to justify it, and I will not try to do that today, or ever.”

MacAulay said after learning of the revelations he ordered Deputy Minister Paul Ledwell to conduct an internal investigation, which found a total of four cases where veterans were offered MAID — all allegedly by the same caseworker.

That number, MacAulay confirmed, does not include the case first reported by the National Post on Thursday, where an active-service CAF member calling himself “Bruce” told Tango Romeo podcast host Mark Meincke he was offered MAID out of the blue by a caseworker last November.”

But now, MacAulay is denying this happened.

After Pierre Poilievre slammed the government for offering state-sponsored suicide to Veterans, MacAulay claimed this was “harmful misinformation”, saying they “never has and never will” offer it:

“This is incredibly false and harmful misinformation. Veterans Affairs Canada does not offer medical assistance in dying to Veterans, never has and never will.”

This is stunning.

MacAulay is publicly on the record speaking to Parliament about this, admitting it happened, saying it was being investigated, and apologizing for it.

It is widely documented that it took place.

Now, in order to score a few political points, MacAulay is claiming this is all made up.

It’s a disgraceful move by MacAulay:

“Lies. There are 9 that we know of and several who actually went through with it.

You shameless coward.”

It is indeed a shameless and cowardly move for the Minister to so egregiously evade the truth.

How can you apologize for something and then claim it didn’t even happen?

Why do the Liberals think this is a winning tactic for them?

And how can our country ever agree on the truth when the government claims the truth is “misinformation?”

This trend is very dangerous for Canada, because the Liberals are increasing the pace and brazenness of their lies at the same time as they increase their effort to centralize control over social media, buy off more of the press, and demand the right to define what is and isn’t true.

All of us should be appalled by this, and should stand up against it.
