Trudeau’s Petty & Divisive Politics Are Deeply Unsuited To A Dangerous World

To face the challenges ahead, Canada needs more national unity and a focus on advancing the national interest in a way that benefits all regions of the country.

The ongoing political firestorm in Quebec over Justin Trudeau’s appointment of Amira Elghawaby is merely the latest example of how he has sought to divide Canadians.

The only real difference this time is that it completely backfired on Trudeau.

But despite the result, the fact that he tried once again to wedge and divide Canadians for short term political benefit demonstrates how ill-suited his ‘leadership’ style is to the present world.

In a safe, peaceful, and prosperous world, petty political games and divisive tactics can do limited damage.

If the Citizens of a country feel safe and prosperous, then it’s alright to focus on rather petty things because the stakes aren’t that high.

But in today’s world, with Russia invading Ukraine, China becoming increasingly aggressive, globalization on the decline, and the danger of economic dependence on authoritarian states being made abundantly obvious, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

This is a moment that requires strong national unity, both between regions and between differing political factions.

We need to produce more oil & gas, we need to strengthen our military to protect ourselves and contribute to our alliances, and we need to strengthen our resolve and belief in the core values of the Western world.

Yet, at every opportunity, Justin Trudeau chooses to deepen and exploit divides, rather than bring Canadians together.

Look at how the federal government treats Western Canada – particularly Alberta.

Look at how they completely dismissed a huge opportunity for Canada to sell more LNG to our allies.

And look at how Trudeau appointed Amira Elghawaby in cynical attempt to divide Canadians and hurt the Conservatives – instead generating a serious regional political crisis.

Poilievre vs Trudeau – a stark contrast

Take a moment to ask yourself why Justin Trudeau regularly insults Conservative voters, while Poilievre doesn’t do the same when it comes to Liberal voters.

It may seem like a subtle difference, but it is really quite noticeable when you think about it.

Poilievre spends much of his time criticizing Justin Trudeau and other Liberal politicians, but doesn’t demonize Canadians who vote Liberal.

By contrast, Trudeau demonizes both Conservative politicians and Conservative Canadians more broadly.

Trudeau seeks to exclude a massive segment of the population from his definition of what it means to be Canadian, just so he can gain some short-term political gain.

That is the worst possible attitude for a leader to have, because it means our country will be more and more divided at a time when we need to be unified.

How can we bring Canadians together to focus on our national interest when we are led by someone who puts his selfish short-term political interests above everything else?

It’s essential for all of us to realize the implications of this. Trudeau isn’t just damaging Canada’s economy, he is damaging our ability to defend our national security and national interests.

In today’s world, we simply can’t afford to be led by someone like that.
