WATCH: Opposition Foreign Affairs Critic Says Trudeau Should Start Listening To CSIS

“For years, CSIS tracked this interference and brought it to the attention of the Prime Minister”

Speaking in the House of Commons, Opposition Foreign Affairs Critic Michael Chong called for Justin Trudeau to listen to the warnings of CSIS and other institutions when it comes to China’s interference in our democratic process.

China has long been interfering not only in Canada, but in allied nations like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Those countries have taken stronger steps than Canada to protect themselves, despite Canada’s national security apparatus giving ample warnings that similar action should be taken here at home.

Things have clearly become so dire that some in the national security apparatus have felt they have no choice but to leak to the press in the hope some action will be taken to protect our country.

Thus, Michael Chong is correct to say that it’s time for the government to finally start listening to CSIS and start protecting our country.
