Survey Shows Canadians Split On Immigration

A plurality say immigration levels are too high.

A new Mainstreet Research survey shows Canadians split on the issue of immigration. According to the survey, 44% say current immigration levels are too high, while 41% say current immigration levels are about right. 15% say current immigration levels are too low. Notably, even among Liberal supporters, just 17% think immigration levels aren’t high enough.

Among supporters of all parties, those who say immigration is too high outnumber those who say it is too low, except among NDP voters. The real divide is between Conservatives/Bloc voters, a majority of whom say immigration is too high, and NDP/Liberal voters who lean towards supporting the status quo.
