REPORT: Second Liberal Carbon Tax Will Take More Money Out Of Your Pocket & Reduce Canada’s GDP

The Liberals are deliberately lowering our standard of living while rapidly increasing our population.

A new report from the Parliamentary Budget Officer reveals that the Liberal Clean Fuel Regulations (AKA the Second Carbon Tax), will both reduce Canada’s GDP and take more money out of the pockets of Canadians.

By 2030 – when the second carbon tax reaches it’s full level – it will push up gas prices by 17 cents per litre, and diesel prices up by 16 cents per litre. Additionally, it will reduce Canada’s GDP by $9.0 billion.

Proportionately, the second carbon tax will hit lower income Canadians the hardest:

“Relative to household disposable income, PBO results show that the Clean Fuel Regulations are broadly regressive. That is, the cost to lower income households represents a larger share of their disposable income compared to higher income households.

At the national level, in 2030, the cost of the Clean Fuel Regulations to households ranges from 0.62 per cent of disposable income (or $231) for lower income households to 0.35 per cent of disposable income (or $1,008) for higher income households.

Relative to disposable income, the cost of the Clean Fuel Regulations to the average household in 2030 is the highest in Saskatchewan (0.87 per cent, or $1,117), Alberta (0.80 per cent, or $1,157) and Newfoundland and Labrador (0.80 per cent, or $850), reflecting the higher fossil fuel intensity of their economies.”

Cutting our standard of living

The Liberals are deliberately lowering our standard of living. Any objective look at the facts makes it clear that there is no real debate about that.

They pile on more and more taxes, constrain the most productive regions of our country, and seek to keep Canadians down.

And remember, at the same time they’re imposing new taxes that reduce economic growth, they are massively increasing our population through immigration.

Bringing in large numbers of people while raising taxes and constraining growth means that each individual Canadian will fall behind on average.

The Collective Mass

With their disdain for individual achievement and anyone who doesn’t rely upon the government, politicians like Justin Trudeau & Steven Guilbeault want Canada to be an amorphous collective mass without ambition and fully dependent on the state.

Thus, lowering our standard of living and rapidly increasing our population fits into that agenda. That’s why this second carbon tax won’t be the last new tax the Liberals impose if they remain in power. They will stop at nothing to make our nation poorer and narrow the opportunities available for people in this country.
