Jagmeet Singh Is Upset With Justin Trudeau Today, But Don’t Worry, He’ll Be Back To Propping Him Up By Tomorrow

Why does Singh even bother pretending he’s leading an opposition party?

Jagmeet Singh is unhappy with Justin Trudeau again.

In fact, he’s upset with Trudeau on a wide range of issues.

Here’s some of what he’s said recently on Twitter:

“Food and housing prices continue to rise.

Meanwhile, Justin Trudeau’s inaction is leading to:

Skyrocketing grocery prices
Record high rent
A mortgage bombshell

Interest rate hikes won’t fix that.

Only a government ready to take on corporate greed will get us there.”

“Today I’m in Hamilton, where the 3 Liberal MPs in the city have been out of touch when it comes to skyrocketing housing costs.

Rent is at a record high, while corporate landlords continue make record profits.

@MatthewGreenNDP and I are fighting back for you.”

“Like so many of us – they came here with the promise of a better life, fleeing violence and trauma.

Now, they’re sleeping on the streets because this Liberal Government has failed them.

I have written to the PM reminding him every day he fails to act – their pain is prolonged.”

So, Jagmeet Singh thinks Justin Trudeau and the Liberals have failed on the economy, the cost-of-living, refugees, and housing.

Given that those are some pretty massive and all-encompassing issues, one would think that the Liberals failing on those issues would be enough for Singh to pull his support for them.

Nope.

There has been no indication that Singh is planning to end the Liberal-NDP pact.

After all, if the Liberals repeatedly ignoring the will of the House of Commons and refusing to call a public inquiry into China’s interference wasn’t enough, then why would any of these other issues cause Singh to change course?

So, Singh may be upset with Trudeau today, but he’ll be back to propping him up by tomorrow.

Singh & the NDP should be seen as part of the government

The most hypocritical aspect of what Singh is doing is that he is trying to have it both ways. He wants to oppose Trudeau when it benefits him, while acting as if he’s part of the government when it benefits him.

When the Liberals fail, Singh pretends he has nothing to do with it.

Simply put, this is BS.

Remember, Singh isn’t supporting the Liberals on an ad-hoc basis. He has an agreement to prop them up until 2025.

This has helped to free the Liberals from the accountability that would normally be imposed in a minority Parliament. This ‘freedom’ for the Liberals means that they don’t pay an immediate price for their failures because they don’t fear being brought down by the Opposition parties.

Unfortunately, this allows them to get away with just about anything. And since Justin Trudeau has repeatedly shown that he will grab as much power as he can, this gives the Liberals a de factor majority.

Jagmeet Singh can no longer pretend that he has nothing to do with this. He has everything to do with it. He – by making a deal with the Liberals – is the cause of it. So, he must wear the failures of the Liberals just as much as Justin Trudeau does.

When the governments on the cost-of-living, Singh bears responsibility. When the government fails to address the housing crisis, Singh bears responsibility. When the government fails to support the refugees they invited into the country, Singh bears responsibility.

When the Liberals fail, Singh and the NDP also fail.

It is essential that we continue to point this out, because Singh will continue to prop up the Liberals while pretending he’s an opposition leader as long as he keeps getting away with it.
