POLL: Trudeau’s Disapproval Rating Hits 63%

Trudeau’s numbers have fallen among Canadians of all ages.

With the Conservatives continuing to dominate in the polls, Justin Trudeau’s own popularity has fallen to a three year low in Angus Reid polling.

33% approve of the Prime Minister, the lowest recorded by Angus Reid since February of 2020. Meanwhile, 63% disapprove of Trudeau. This 30 point gap is also the worst for the Liberals in an Angus Reid poll in over three years.

There has been a marked shift since late last year. In December of 2022, 54% disapproved of Trudeau, while 43% approved. Since then, the housing crisis has worsened, violent crime has continued to surge, and Canadians have watched our purchasing power erode amid a cost-of-living crisis that has been largely caused by inflationary federal spending and anti-growth policies.

This year, Trudeau’s approval has dropped 10 points, while his disapproval rate has risen 9 points. That’s a -19 point shift against the Prime Minister. Trudeau’s approval is down among Canadians of all ages, with a particularly massive drop among women aged 18-34, where his approval rating fell from 46% to 31% in a month.

Poilievre holds significant approval advantage over Trudeau

When compared to Justin Trudeau’s declining numbers, CPC Leader Pierre Poilievre’s favourable/unfavourable numbers are improving. 49% view Poilievre unfavourably, down from 52% who felt that way in the August Angus Reid poll.

Meanwhile, 38% view the CPC Leader favourably, up from 36% last month. This gives Poilievre a net favourability rating of -11. That’s a full 19 points better than Trudeau’s -30 net favourable rating.

Given that the Prime Minister refuses to acknowledge the fact that his approach to governing has failed and instead doubles down on that same approach, it’s no surprise that Canadians view him in an increasingly negative light.
