Gun Crime Surges As Liberal Focus On Punishing Law-Abiding Firearms Owners Instead Of Criminals Fails Miserably

Statistics Canada reveals gun crime is the highest ever recorded since they started collecting comparable data in 2009.

Liberal gun policy has always been a massive fraud.

On the one hand, the Liberals tell Canadians they’re addressing crime.

On the other hand, the Liberals ease sentences for violent crimes committed with firearms, make it easier for criminals to get out of jail faster – or even avoid jail altogether – weaken security at our border, and instead focus resources on criminalizing law-abiding gun owners.

In effect, gun policy has been utilized solely for politics: The Liberals seek to demonize and criminalize law-abiding firearms owners, punishing a group that tends to be be more favourable to the Conservatives.

Unsurprisingly, it has been an absolutely disastrous policy.

According to Statistics Canada, the firearm-related violent crime rate is the highest it has ever been since the statistical agency started collecting that data in 2009:

“In 2022, slightly less than 3% of police-reported violent crimes in Canada (or approximately 14,000 violent crimes) involved a firearm. This corresponds to a rate of 36.7 firearm-related violent crimes per 100,000 population, an increase of 8.9% from the 2021 rate. The 2022 rate of firearm-related violent crime is the highest since comparable data were first compiled in 2009.”

There is no ambiguity here.

As Conservative tough-on-crime policy went into effect – along with the repeal of the gun registry – gun crime went down.

Under Justin Trudeau, gun crime has surged.

This is yet another way in which the Liberals – by putting politics ahead of the interests of Canadians – are making our country worse.
