Establishment Media Continues Promoting Disingenuous Hit Jobs Against Poilievre

They seem almost as desperate as the Charest & Brown campaigns…

Another day, another brutally disingenuous hit job on Pierre Poilievre.

Yesterday featured the Patrick Brown campaign attempts to link Poilievre to ‘replacement theory,’ and claiming they received an email from a ‘Poilievre supporter’ who supported fascism and racism.

Today, it’s CTV ‘News’ claiming there is a controversy and supposed ‘backlash’ surrounding Poilievre’s appearance on the Jordan Peterson podcast.

Here’s some of what they wrote:

“Some are calling attention to a comment Conservative leadership candidate Pierre Poilievre made while appearing as a guest on controversial psychologist Jordan Peterson’s podcast in an episode posted on Tuesday.

“I’m a believer in using simple Anglo-Saxon words that strike right at the the meaning that I’m trying to convey,” Poilievre said in the interview. “And so I say things that people say, ‘Yeah, that actually makes sense.’”

Some have pointed out that the term has been used by those on the far-right to differentiate white people from immigrants and people of colour.

“It’s a way to basically set apart those who are white in Canada, who are white Anglo-Saxon, from everyone else and certainly [from] the racialized segment of society,” Fareed Khan, the founder of Canadians United Against Hate, told CTV News.”

And of course, this kind of hit job wouldn’t be complete without an attempt to link Poilievre to some politicians in the US along with Pat King:

“When far-right U.S. Republicans including Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz last year were connected to a leaked document for an “America First” pledge to return to “Anglo-Saxon political traditions,” the backlash was swift, with even House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy calling out the “nativist dog whistles.”

And an organizer of the Ottawa trucker protests, Pat King, also used the term to warn of a plot to replace white people — a common white supremacist falsehood often used to justify hostility or violence against immigrants.”

Laziness, stupidity, or malice?

The question to ask is whether this pathetic hit job on Poilievre is a result of laziness, stupidity, or malice.

Likely, it’s a mix of all three.

Consider that a cursory search for “Anglo Saxon Words” brings you to a Wikipedia page that shows a List of English words of Anglo-Saxon origin“.

Wikipedia describes the words as “words inherited and derived directly from the Anglo-Saxon, or Old English, stage of the language.”

You’ll notice that many of the words are still the core words we use, and tend to have a very clear and direct meaning.

This is the exact point Poilievre was making, that he speaks in a way that conveys meaning, rather than obscuring meaning as many politicians do through overtly legalistic wording.

It took about 2 minutes to look for and find the description of “Anglo-Saxon words.”

But that’s a level of effort the establishment press couldn’t be troubled to use.

Notice how the CTV report claims the term “Anglo-Saxon words” has been used by the far-right, but then points to examples where Anglo-Saxon was used in the context of race, rather than language.

It’s a clear attempt to manipulate, and to twist Poilievre’s discussion of language into some sort of secret racist appeal.

Ironically, the same establishment media outlets and personalities pushing these hit jobs are the ones who demand the government censor independent media.

Just like the Trudeau Liberals, the establishment press wants to silence those who point out their lies and manipulations, so they can have the unchallenged power to assault the minds of Canadians.

This is why we must keep fighting back against the dishonest establishment press, and rapidly expose their manipulative actions every chance we get.
