WATCH: Poilievre Slams Liberals For Blaming Others “For The Misery They’ve Caused”

Poilievre called for the Liberals to take responsibility for the state of Canada on their watch, noting that problems don’t go away if people stop talking about them.

A dynamic I’ve written about before is how the Liberals attack those who point out problems rather than addressing problems.

When people talk about how divided Canada is, the Liberals accuse people of spreading misinformation.

When people talk about how bad the economy is, the Liberals accuse people of “talking down Canada’s economy.”

It’s a manipulative tactic, since it seeks to shift blame from those in power to those who are simply observing reality.

Unfortunately, manipulative tactics often work in politics, and the Liberals have often successfully kept the Conservatives on the defensive by attacking them for pointing out problems.

But now, CPC Leader Pierre Poilievre is confronting that tactic head on.

In Question Period, Poilievre pointed out the three ways the Liberals try to evade responsibility:

After 8 years of Trudeau, Liberals have 3 talking points:

“1. Things are better than ever.

2. Things are miserable, but it’s not our fault.

3. Things are miserable, but please shut up about it.”

It’s great to see Poilievre confronting the Liberal messaging, because it refocuses attention where it should be:

On those who have the power to make things better for Canadians yet refuse to do so.

The Liberal government is not to blame for all the geopolitical disruption around the world, but they are responsible for exacerbating inflation with the carbon tax.

They are also responsible for trying to weaken Canada’s energy sector – thus driving up the price of energy – and for rebuffing Japan and Germany when they wanted more LNG exports, which could have brought in tens of billions of dollars for our nation.

It’s also quite pathetic to see the Liberal government still trying to talk about the Harper era.

After 8 years in power, if the best a party can do is try to blame their predecessor that is a clear sign they haven’t achieved much that is worthy of note.
