Absolute Disgrace: 700 Canadian Military Members Don’t Have Heat & Hot Water Amid The PSAC Strike

Somehow, workers operating the central heating plant were deemed “non essential” and allowed to strike.

As we know, the Canadian Military has been struggling to recruit. There is a shortage of roughly 10,000 personnel, and that shortage is based on the already-low manpower targets. Even if that shortage was resolved, Canada would still be woefully undefended, with our military being too small and too poorly equipped due to years of neglect and a horrific procurement system.

The attempt to impose political correctness on the military also alienates many potential recruits.

And now, there’s something else that will dissuade people from wanting to sign up:

Due to the PSAC strike, about 700 personnel at CFB Petawawa are without heat and hot water.

Somehow, the workers who operate the central heating plant on the base were deemed “non essential” workers, and were allowed to go on strike. As a result, there is no heat and hot water at a large portion of the base:

“About 700 military members living on base at CFB Petawawa are without heat or hot water after some federal workers were deemed non-essential during the Public Service Alliance of Canada strike.

In total, 21 buildings that house members on site are without the amenities.

“The majority of buildings on base, we did lose heat and hot water,” Acting Commander Andrew Mills told CTV News. “And currently that applies to the approximately 700 members that we have living here on base.”

The heat went out Wednesday morning when 505 public service workers walked off the job, including those who keep the heat on at the on-base central heating plant.”

Disgrace

This is a disgrace. How can our country treat our military members so poorly, and then expect people to sign up?

Remember, this follows the news that Canadian troops in Poland were being forced to pay for their own meals after the federal government failed to manage the system that reimburses them.

The Liberal government throws tens of billions of dollars in new spending all over the place, yet we can’t even keep the heat and hot water on for our military personnel. And we can’t even ensure our troops’ food is paid for?

This country continues to become more and more of a joke. Unfortunately, the consequences are no laughing matter.
