Canadians Can’t Afford Trudeau & Guilbeault’s Made In China Climate Plan

Emissions in Canada were already dropping before the imposition of the carbon tax. But that fact doesn’t give Steven Guilbeault the ‘crisis’ narrative he needs. So instead, he’s lecturing Canadians and crushing our purchasing power while doing the bidding of Communist China.

As their desperation increases, the Liberals have taken to crashing the Conservative Party Convention. Eco-radical Steven Guilbeault – fresh off his trip to meet government officials in Communist China – is attempting to attack Pierre Poilievre on the issue of climate change. He’s calling Poilievre “no plan Pierre.” The Liberals are going all in, with Guilbeault launching the attack on video along with accompanying social media messages:

Guilbeault ignores the facts

For all his rhetoric, Guilbeault is not arguing from a factually-sound position. If his goal was simply to reduce Canada’s overall and per capita emissions, he could have simply done nothing at all as I explained in a previous article:

“Most notably, Canada’s per capita emissions declined by a similar amount under both the Harper Government and Trudeau Government, and that’s even with Trudeau ‘benefitting’ from emission stats that are still based on the incomplete recovery from the massive drop in 2020 caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Let’s look at the numbers:

The Conservatives took power in early 2006, so we will start there. In 2006, Canada’s per capita emissions were 17.47 tons. In 2015, their final year in office, Canada’s emissions per capita had fallen to 16.32 tons, a 1.15 ton per person decline.

Since the 2015 election occurred with just 2 months left in the year, we will start in 2016 when looking at the numbers under the Liberals.

In 2016, Canada’s per capita emissions were 16.13 tons per person. By 2021 (the last year for which full data is available) Canada’s per capita emissions had fallen to 14.86 tons. That’s a 1.27 ton decline per person.

Again, remember that the Liberal number is still skewed by what happened in 2020. Canada’s per capita emissions dropped from 16.32 tons per person in 2019, to 14.59 tons in 2020, as much of the global economy was shut down. As economic activity began to recover in 2021, the number crept back up, but it is almost certain that the 2022 number will show an increase that will wipe out the very narrow Liberal emission reduction advantage when compared to the Harper era.”

Without a carbon tax, without ‘no-pipelines’ legislation, without excessive regulation, and without crushing the purchasing power of Canadians, emissions dropped under the Harper Government in both overall and per capita terms, by about the same as they dropped under the Liberals.

Guilbeault never mentions this. When you think about it, you’ll realize that Guibeault doesn’t even mention actual facts at all. Instead, he makes broad statements, demonizes Western Canada, and weakens the Canadian economy all to fulfill he and Trudeau’s zealous agenda.

Made In China

Justin Trudeau & Steven Guilbeault definitely have a climate plan. The only problem is that the plan was made in China, rather than in Canada. It’s a plan that divides Canada, seeks to weaken the energy sector, and makes Canadians poorer, all while explicitly praising China and giving China a free pass on their absolutely massive surge in coal power plant construction and on the fact that China accounts for about two-thirds of the total worldwide increase in emissions over the past few decades.

China’s two useful idiots in Ottawa are imposing an agenda that this country simply cannot afford.
