Majority Of Canadians Say They’re Now Worse Off Financially Than Before Trudeau Took Power

Canada is objectively much worse.

One thing you’ll notice about Liberal attempts to defend their failed governance of the country is that they often don’t try to even directly defend it.

Instead, they try to deflect.

One of their favourite deflections is to attack former Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

But that Liberal tactic is running into a big problem:

A majority of Canadians now say they’re worse off under Trudeau than they were in 2015.

That’s according to a Nanos poll conducted for Bloomberg News:

“Some 53 per cent said their personal finances are worse now than eight years ago, according to the poll conducted by Nanos Research for Bloomberg News, while 24 per cent said they were better off and 21 per cent said there had been no change.

Those 35 to 54 years old were most likely to feel the financial blues — 61 per cent said they’re now worse off.

The poll helps illustrate why Trudeau’s government is ending the year with low ratings. “When the economy is flat and people worry about paying the bills they get grumpy and look to punish the incumbent government,” said Nik Nanos, the polling firm’s chief data scientist. “If you are struggling to pay for housing or the groceries, you might think, ‘What do I have to lose with a change in government?’””

The Liberals keep trying to talk their way out of their moribund polling numbers, but as I’ve said before, the Liberals have a reality problem, not a communications problem.

Their policies are designed to deliberately make Canadians poorer, and now that Canadians are waking up to this they are turning against the Liberals.

And the more the Liberals try to talk about Stephen Harper, the more Canadians will remember that things were much better when Harper was in power.
