Housefather has been a staunch defender of Israel and the importance of Canada having a principled, pro-Western foreign policy. Sadly, the Liberals under Justin Trudeau are headed in a very different direction.
Liberal MP Anthony Housefather has been a strong defender of Israel and a defender of the kind of principled pro-Western foreign policy Canada was once known for.
Unfortunately, the Liberal Party under Justin Trudeau has slowly been shifting away from that for many years, and the shift has rapidly accelerated in recent months.
And yesterday, the Liberals abandonment of Canadian Values reached its logical conclusion.
They voted for a motion proposed by the extremist NDP that – even when watered down – represented a massive break with Canadian foreign policy and represented the abandonment of Canada’s Jewish community.
Housefather, and two other Liberal MPs – Ben Carr and Marco Mendicino – voted against the motion.
All other Liberals in the House of Commons voted for it.
Following that vote, most Liberal MPs stood and applauded the sponsor of the motion, NDP MP Heather McPherson – one of the most anti-Israel MPs in the country.
And it seems that may end up being the catalyst for Housefather’s departure from the Liberal Caucus.
Speaking to reporters, Housefather said he is “reflecting” on his future with the Liberals:
“Sounds very much like the Trudeau caucus may be about to shrink by at least one. Respect.”

This is a sad moment for Housefather, and for our country. Housefather has shown himself to be a principled person, and it is disturbing to see the Liberals pushing him out by embracing the extremism of the NDP.
All Canadians – regardless of partisan stripe – need to recognize how dangerous the Liberals & NDP have become, and we must stand together with those who are trying to preserve Canadian Values.
