Post-nationalism has created a vacuum, and that vacuum is being filled by ideas that are completely incompatible with what Canada is supposed to be.
Justin Trudeau wanted Canada to be a ‘post-national’ state.
Well, we now see what that looks like.
In the absence of a unifying & inclusive sense of Canadian identity, nationalism hasn’t gone away.
It has merely splintered.
Now, there are many in this country who absolutely despise Canada and despise the Western world.
Anti-Semitism – much of it imported from dysfunctional & backwards societies abroad – is surging out of control.
Post-nationalism has created a vacuum, and that vacuum is being filled by ideas that are completely incompatible with what Canada is supposed to be.
This will just keep getting worse, until we once again understand that the values of Canada and the broader Western world are indeed far better than all alternatives.
Individual freedom, limits on government power, women’s rights, religious pluralism & capitalism are all worth defending and worth preserving.
Post-nationalism must be defeated, and in its place we must renew a positive sense of Canadian national identity deeply rooted in the values of the Western world.
