The government is spending more, for far worse results.
As a percentage of GDP, Canada has among the highest budget deficits in the world, perhaps the largest.
Yet, for all of that spending, we are getting worse outcomes.
This is something that Conservative Finance Critic Pierre Poilievre has been pointing out for some time.
In response, some Liberals have been claiming that our numbers only look bad because other countries may use a different technique for coming up with their unemployment statistics.
So, in response to that criticism, Poilievre shared the following chart from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which uses the same technique to arrive at the unemployment rate in all countries:

However we crunch the numbers, Canada is struggling.
For all this debt we are piling on, we are doing worse than many other countries that are spending less.
After all, as you well know, if you spend more and get less, something is seriously going wrong.
That is a clear indictment of the federal Liberal government, and is why it is impossible to trust them with the economic future of our nation.
