Jagmeet Singh Makes An Absolute Fool Of Himself In Question Period, Falsely Claims Conservatives Oppose Inquiry

Even as the Liberals are under siege politically and desperately flailing around, Singh seems determined to help Trudeau by making false claims against the Conservatives.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh had a rare moment of gravitas as he acted like the head of an actual opposition party when he said the NDP would vote for a Conservative motion compelling Katie Telford to testify if the Liberals didn’t end their filibuster at a key House of Commons Committee.

But that moment only lasted a few hours.

After the Liberals relented under immense pressure and announced that Telford would testify, the NDP Leader made an absolute fool of himself in Question Period. Singh attempted to claim the Conservatives were opposed to a public inquiry.

Singh claimed the Liberals and Conservatives are “have something in common,” and are “both opposed to a public inquiry.” Simply put, Singh is lying. He knows – as we all do – that the Conservatives have been pushing for a public inquiry. In fact, it’s been one of the key Conservative demands ever since the national security whistleblower(s) made the election interference issue public.

Notably, the official NDP Twitter account repeated Singh’s false claim, but with a slight caveat. They said the Conservatives are against a motion calling for a ‘debate’ on holding an inquiry. The thing is, there isn’t anything to debate. The Conservatives, Bloc, and NDP have called for a public inquiry. Only the Liberals are opposed. So it’s the Liberals who are standing in the way, not the Conservatives.

Many NDP MPs are retweeting the official party Tweet, indicating this is part of a coordinated effort to sow distraction, let the Liberals off the hook, and make it look like ‘everyone is just as bad’ on the issue of foreign interference.

Unsurprisingly, this benefits the Liberals the most, because it takes a scandal that is mostly focused on Trudeau and instead draws attention away from the Prime Minister’s refusal to protect our nation from China’s interference.

This raises the real question of whether the entire NDP move to support the Conservative motion (rendered null by Telford deciding to testify), was a planned scheme between Trudeau & Singh. Public opinion has turned so decisively against the Liberals on China that their cover-up attempts only invite more scrutiny. Seeing that stopping the motion from passing would be disastrous, they instead had Singh be the face of efforts to get Telford to testify, and Singh then immediately pivoted towards attacking the Conservatives at the moment when he had the most attention on him.

The NDP also seems quite keen – as the Liberals surely are as well – to distract from China’s singularly extensive and dangerous foreign interference. They want to dilute the focus on China, which would also be helpful for the Liberals. It increasingly appears that the level of corruption and infiltration in our country is far worse than we ever feared, and both the NDP and Liberals seem to want that revelation to be ‘softened’ and turned into something that doesn’t seem like a big deal.

As a result, while Singh may have made a fool of himself in question period, there’s nothing funny about the damage Singh and the NDP can do to our country if they decide to help protect the Liberals instead of helping Canadians get the truth.
