It’s Not Just Their ‘Manipulated Media’ Tweet. The Entire Trudeau Campaign Is Built On Lies

As Trudeau & Freeland double-down on their lies, Canadians can see that they have nothing of substance to campaign on.

“Manipulated Media.”

That perhaps sums up how many Canadians have felt about the media during Justin Trudeau’s entire tenure as PM.

Trudeau has gone out of his way to manipulate and control the media even further, with his massive increase to CBC’s funding, his $600 million media bailout, and secret payments to publishers – payments the government still refuses to explain or disclose.

As Trudeau got away with numerous ethics violations, as he revealed himself to be a total hypocrite, and as he increasingly divided this nation, much of his media coverage was still quite positive, and this represents the extent to which the establishment press has become financially dependent on the taxpayer money he doles out to them.

As a result, Trudeau has clearly become more and more emboldened, feeling that he can say anything and get away with anything.

For example, as I noted in a past column, the Liberals have been spending months pushing a ‘Big Lie’ about the Conservatives and CERB payments:

“The Liberals are employing the strategy Catherine McKenna proclaimed: “But you know, I actually gave them some real advice. I said that if you actually say it louder, we’ve learned in the House of Commons, if you repeat it, if you say it louder, if that is your talking point, people will totally believe it.”
Indeed.

And that is the strategy the Liberals have been using – with considerable success – to attempt to rewrite history when it comes to the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic fallout that resulted.

When initial lockdowns and a rapid economic collapse began, many people pointed out that if the government was telling people to stay home and thus lose their incomes, the government also had to ensure that people had a means of supporting themselves.

Before the Liberals even introduced any such program, people like myself were calling for $2000 payments to be sent out to Canadians, which is what the government ended up doing.

They did so with the support of all parties in the House of Commons, including the Conservatives, who repeatedly expressed support for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit program, and voted in favour of it.”

As I noted, there is clear evidence of this:

“There is clear and explicit documentation of this in the Hansard:”

Simply put, anyone claiming the Conservatives opposed CERB is lying.

It’s not a ‘difference of opinion,’ it’s a flat out lie.

But Trudeau wasn’t called out on this by the establishment press.

Thus, he probably felt he could lie even more.

So, he brought out the usual lie the Liberals love to use in close elections:

Claiming the Conservatives will restrict abortion.

The Liberals trotted out Maryam Monsef to make the tired attack:

“1/8 Tonight in Quebec, Erin O’Toole pretended to be pro-choice. He did the same thing in his platform. But in reality, he’ll let his team bring forward legislation to restrict abortion access. That’s the same position as Andrew Scheer.”

“2/8 To win the Conservative leadership race, Erin O’Toole courted social conservatives, some who’ve made it their life’s work to roll back women’s hard-won rights, including the right to choose.”

“3/8 Under Erin O’Toole’s watch, 81 Conservative MPs voted to reopen the abortion debate. That’s the majority of his caucus. That included members of his handpicked leadership team. In the Conservative Party, the rights of women ARE up for debate.”

It goes on like that for 5 more Tweets, but you get the idea.

Here’s the problem.

The Liberals said this in 2004.

They said it in 2006.

Then, when Harper won and abortion remained legal, they said it was because he was waiting to get a majority.

Then, in 2011 Harper won a majority, and abortion remained legal.

In a logical world, the Liberals would simply be dismissed and discredited when they bring it up again, having been so decisively proven wrong.

Yet, they keep on trying it.

But apparently, that isn’t working well enough.

So, they are bring out the really ‘big guns’ when it comes to political attacks:

Claiming the Conservatives will privatize healthcare.

Unfortunately for the Liberals, the Conservatives support the public healthcare system, as they did under the Harper government.

Rather than accept reality however, the Liberals have decided to simply make up a new position for the Conservatives, and then campaign against that.

To do so, they released this clip:

“Canada’s public, universal health care system is one of our greatest strengths. It’s part of what makes us who we are as a country. Last year, as COVID-19 raged, Erin O’Toole was asked if he would bring private, “for-profit” healthcare to Canada. He responded unequivocally: yes.”

Why was this ‘manipulated media?’

Because they cut it off right before O’Toole says this:

Here’s what Twitter says about their ‘manipulated media’ policy:

“We use the following criteria as we consider Tweets and media for labeling or removal under this policy as part of our ongoing work to enforce our rules and ensure healthy and safe conversation on Twitter (additional information is available below):”

Basically, the Liberals were busted flat out-lying to Canadians.

Amazingly – or perhaps not, considering Trudeau’s arrogance and contempt for the country – the Liberals are doubling-down on the lies.

Here’s Chrystia Freeland, repeating both the lie about CERB, and the lie about healthcare:

Caught lying, still lying

The Liberals have been caught in an obvious lie.

Yet, they are still lying.

This reveals the basic fact of their campaign:

It’s all based on lies.

Having lied constantly in office, Trudeau is now reduced to doubling and tripling-down on lies to try and stay in office.

As we can see, the more desperate he and the Liberals get, the more obvious the lies become.

Not only do they show contempt for Canadians with the endless deception, but they are tacitly admitting their own failure as a government.

If you have a strong record, and if people are happy with your performance, you don’t need to lie about your opponents.

It’s only when a leader is weak, and when people are waking up to their tricks that lies run rampant.

Perhaps it’s fitting that Canada’s most dishonest leader is running the most dishonest campaign.
