Official Opposition Calls For Emergency Meeting After NDP Votes With Liberals To Prevent Top Trudeau Aide From Testifying

“The NDP needs to decide if they wills tand up for our democracy, or continue to shield the PMO”, said Conservative MP Michael Cooper.

After the NDP members of the Standing Committee on Procedure & House Affairs  yet again voted with the Liberals against a Conservative motion calling on Prime Minister Trudeau’s Chief of Staff Katie Telford to testify, the Conservatives have called for an emergency meeting on the matter.

Conservative MP Michael Cooper said the Liberals were filibustering to stop Telford from testifying, and said the NDP acted as “accomplices” to “shut down debate.”

The rising tensions emerge as public opinion shows a clear majority of Canadians expressing concern about China’s interference.

The Prime Minister continues to resist calls for an inquiry despite mounting pressure, and the NDP is now facing additional scrutiny as they seem insistent upon broadening the inquiry – a move some see as an attempt to deflect the focus away from China and away from the Liberal Party.

You can view the statement from the Official Opposition below:

“The Libs filibustered to stop Telford from appearing at committee, then their NDP accomplices shut down debate.

We’ve demanded an emergency meeting to deal with this immediately.

The NDP needs to decide if they will stand up for our democracy, or continue to shield the PMO.”
